Cantera stone is a natural quarried product, made of calcite materials. The
stone is an igneous stone, formed millions of years ago by extreme volcanic
heat and pressure.

Porous and lightweight, cantera stone is preferred throughout the ages as
a building material for its natural beauty, exquisite color varieties,
texture and durability. Many ancient buildings and monuments in Mexico, made
of cantera stone, have stood the test of time for thousands of years.

Spanish conquistadors brought with them to America the techniques for
carving cantera stone into elaborate and beautiful shapes. The centuries-old
artistic technique has remained unchanged in its primitive execution. Each
piece is an individually hand carved piece of art, reflecting European
elegance and exotic North American designs.
